Meet the Newt behind the Design
NEWT ORIGIN - nickname bestowed by my sister and family for my love of amphibians as a child.
DESIGN ORIGIN - My passion for art started while reading comic strips like Calvin and Hobbes in the 80s.
I grew up in the Skate/Punk culture of SoCal in the 90s which morphed the INSPO of my style. A conglomeration of Thrasher magazine ads, skateboarding on VHS, graffiti, CD album covers, MTV, comic books and slapping stickers on everything!
In my 20s I discovered Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (CS3). I had fun using the programs but lacked vital design principles. We're talking pre YouTube and Instagram days. After pursuing a degree I finally harnessed the power of the design software and build that foundation.
DESIGN BUILDING MATERIALS - Visual Communication, Typography, Color Theory, Photography, Web Design and more.
Currently I've been working as the Senior Creative in the Vehicle Wrap Industry. With over 8 years of experience designing for large scale printing, vehicle wraps, signage and everything in between.
For fun I sell art online and occasionally peddle stickers and prints for local art shows and cons.
